Kasuri leaves for Iran tomorrow
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri will leave for Iran tomorrow (Monday). Mr Kasuri will hold talks with his Iranian counterpart on matters of mutual interest during his two-day visit. He will also meet Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and other leaders of the country. A foreign ministry official said the proposed gas pipeline between Iran, Pakistan and India would also be discussed. Foreign Office Spokesman Masood Khan said Mr Kasuri’s visit would help boost economic and trade ties between both countries. Mr Khan said both countries would also discuss international issues, which include Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and the recent confidence building measures between India and Pakistan. He dismissed the impression that the nuclear proliferation issue had cast any negative effect in the relations of Pakistan and Iran. He added that Pakistan and Iran have remained in contact in this regard and therefore there were no chances of any misunderstanding between both countries. agencies
