Terror alerts grim reminder of threats: Bush
KENNEBUNKPORT: The heightened state of alert in New York, New Jersey and Washington is “a grim reminder” of terrorist threats that still face the United States, said President George Bush on Saturday.
He defended the elevated warnings which were subject to criticism for being based on old intelligence.
“Information from arrests in Pakistan, taken together with information gathered by the US intelligence community, indicated that Al Qaeda has cased financial targets in three US cities and has recently updated their targeting information,” President Bush said in his weekly radio address. “This information was in line with other information we already had.” He however did not elaborate on the “other information”. agencies
