Measures to curb violence on court premises
Staff Report
LAHORE: The Punjab government has taken strict measures to curb recurrence of any unfortunate incident like the one on July 25 at the Sialkot jail, which claimed the lives of four judges.
All prisoners who are facing trials were handcuffed and made to travel in mobile jails on Thursday. Outside courts they remained in judicial lockups and were not allowed to meet their relatives. The prisoners used to stand outside the court building waiting for their turn but on Thursday they were kept in lockups on court premises and taken out only when their cases were taken up. An additional police force was deployed on court premises to thwart possible violence.
