Jamali calls for welfare budget

ISLAMABAD Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali Khan directed his economic managers on Friday to focus on health, education and welfare schemes in the coming budget. The prime minister issued these directions in a meeting with Finance Minster Shaukat Aziz, who called on him at Prime Minister’s House, says an official statement. Finance Secretary Navid Ahsan accompanied the minister. The prime minister said public welfare topped the government agenda. “We need to focus on infrastructure development projects in water and power, ports, roads, and utility services,” he said. Mr Aziz told Prime Minster Jamali that all stakeholders being consulted on the budget. He said the budget would focus on investment and broad-based development so that more jobs could be created. staff report
