Police kill three robbers in encounter
LAHORE Police killed three robbers in an encounter that took place in Kashmir Block, Allama Iqbal Town, on Friday. The robbers entered Ghulam Hussain’s residence before taking the family hostage at gunpoint. However, a neighbour, Muhammad Suleman, informed the police, and a team led by Allama Iqbal Town Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Shahzad Akbar rushed to the scene. Police teams from other police stations were also called for rescue. The police cordoned off the place, ordering the robbers to surrender, but they opened fire and injured a constable. The police party retaliated in response, killing the robber in an encounter that lasted for 15 minutes. The bodies were sent for autopsy. Capital Police Office (CPO) Tariq Salim Doggar and other senior police officials also visited the scene. He announced commendatory medals for the ASP and the injured cop. A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was also announced for Mr Suleman. staff report
