Petition against Phailbus’ appointment dismissed

Staff Report

LAHORE: Justice Ijaz Ahmed of Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by Azra Parveen challenging the appointment of Dr Meera Phailbus as the coordinator of Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) women’s wing.

The petitioner called Phailbus’ appointment illegal and violative of a writ petition filed earlier and the recommendations of a PCB committee. However, Asghar Haider, the PCB counsel, highlighted that the petitioner had concealed a civil suit titled Azra Parveen vs Imtiaz Ahmed which was still in court. He said that a committee had been set up to review the PCB constitution and committee’s recommendations. The court issued directions to PCB chairman Shahryar M Khan to look into the matter and pass orders in accordance with the law.
