Rs 75 million for Balochistan uplift

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Finance Senator elect Shaukat Aziz on Friday said the Federal government would release Rs 75 million for development projects in Balochistan under Khushhal Pakistan Programme.
Mr Aziz said this in a meeting with Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Mohammad Yusuf, who called on him. The adviser informed the chief minister that the federal government has previously released Rs 145 million under Khushhal Pakistan Programme.
The advisor informed the chief minister that for drought relief programme in Balochistan Rs 2.7 billion have been allocated and implementation needs to be accelerated.
The chief minister explained various development priorities of Balochistan government and discussed province’s financial position with the Advisor.
The chief minister and the adviser in detail discussed development for Gawadar Port and need for completing infrastructure, particularly extension of runway to facilitate landing of jets and improvement in hotel facilities so that when the port is ready and operational, the infrastructure is ready for the next phase of development in Gawadar.
They also reviewed progress of various roads, which link Ghawadar with other part of the country, particularly between Karachi and Gawadar.
The adviser assured, Chief Minister of Federal Government’s continued support for development of projects so as to create employment opportunities, accelerate development and improve overall financial position of the province.
