Nepalese man arrested in HK after swallowing cannabis

HONG KONG: A Nepalese man who swallowed 1 kilogram of cannabis tablets wrapped in plastic and concealed more of the drug in his shoes was arrested after arriving at Hong Kong’s airport, customs officials said on Friday. The 33-year-old man, whose name was not released, arrived Wednesday night from Katmandu and officers at the airport thought he acted suspiciously. They later seized drugs worth about 200,000 Hong Kong dollars officials said. An X-ray check revealed that the man had about 1 kilogram of cannabis resin in the soles of his shoes, officials said. Authorities suspected he also had drugs hidden in his body and took him to a hospital where they recovered 92 pellets of the drug that the man had swallowed, officials said. The pellets were in plastic wrap and weighed about 10 grams each. ap
