Villagers and CDA resolve D-12 dispute
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the residents of Siri Saral and Pind Sangrial villages on Thursday signed an agreement to resolve a longstanding dispute over land acquisition.
The villagers agreed to accept a compensation package offered by CDA for vacating their land. A new sector, D-12, would be developed on the land. Kamran Lashari, CDA chairman, signed the agreement on behalf of the authority, while MNA Mian Aslam represented the villagers. CDA had started development work in sector D-12 in 2002 but the work was suspended because of a clash between villagers, police officials and the local administration, claiming the life of one villager. The villagers demanded at least 150 extra plots in exchange for vacating their land. staff report
