‘CM’s demand an insult to parliament’
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s statement that General Musharraf should keep his uniform for five years was unconstitutional and the people will not accept a uniformed president after December 31, said Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) President Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Sunday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, he said Gen Musharraf must leave the post of the chief of army staff before December 31 and there should be no confusion about this. He said Mr Elahi’s demand that Gen Musharraf should stay as the army chief was an insult to parliament. Mr Ahmed asked President Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to clarify their positions. He said if Gen Musharraf did not take off his uniform, he would lose the president’s post. staff report
