PTF hopeful to host Davis Cup tie

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) is confident of organising the Davis Cup tie against New Zealand here in August, said PTF secretary Maj (r) Rashid on Sunday.

Responding to a question about an International Tennis Federation (ITF) letter to the PTF regarding security arrangements for the visiting team, he said: “There is no problem in holding the New Zealand tie in Islamabad and the ITF has assured us to hold next two ties in Pakistan.”A former Davis Cup player, on condition of anonymity, told the Kiwis wanted to take the home ground advantage against Pakistan like the previous year when they succeeded in shifting the tie to New Zealand on the security pretext.
