Balochistan needs autonomy and not charity
ISLAMABAD: Balochistan does not need anyone’s charity and the recommendations made by the parliamentary committee on Balochistan were “one- sided” as true nationalist parties had boycotted the committee, said Abdul Raouf Mengal, Balochistan National Party (BNP) central leader, on Thursday.
He said the federal government would have to give complete sovereignty to the federating units and should control foreign affairs, finance and defence.
He said the BNP would not accept the committee’s decision unless the government granted complete autonomy to provinces, abandoned plans to make cantonments and removed reservations on mega projects.
He said the provinces should be granted autonomy under the 1940 Lahore resolution and that would end the 50-year-old feud between the federation and the provinces. online
