Law to withhold delinquent policemen’s promotion soon

LAHORE: The government is formulating a law to withhold the promotion of police officers who are repeatedly suspended, said Muhammad Basharat Raja, Punjab minister for law, while addressing participants of a workshop on ‘Crime reporting and media’ arranged by the Press Institute of Pakistan on Thursday.

The minister sought suggestions from journalists on crime control and police reforms. He said crime reporters should avoid sensationalism. Mowahid Hussain, special assistant to the CM, MA Niazi, Dr Ahsan and Awais Ibrahim were also present. staff report
