Azerbaijan envoy visits ICCI

ISLAMABAD: Zubair Ahmed Malik, president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Friday stressed that the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan should be enhanced, which is presently around $1.7 million.

Mr Malik made this observation during a meeting with Dr Eynullah Madatli, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, who visited the chamber.

He asked the ambassador that Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry should develop close linkage with ICCI in order to strengthen interaction between the business communities in the two countries in an environment of free market economy, which was being followed by Azerbaijan after its breakaway from the former Soviet Union some ten years ago

Other local businessmen, who attended the meeting, indicated that two-way trade would be improved if the two countries would exchange businessmen’s delegation and hold single country exhibitions in the capitals of the two countries. A proposal was moved for sending a trade delegation of Pakistani businessmen to Azerbaijan this year. —Staff Report
