Quetta: Fifteen classic 70’s cars of the ‘London-Sydney Car Rally’ were in Quetta on Sunday. The rally, which began in London on August 14, arrived in Quetta via Iran and Chaghi. The teams arrived at Sukkur later in the day, and left for Islamabad, from where they will travel along the Silk Route to China. The rally is expected to reach Sydney on November 16 after passing through France, Austria, Hungry Bulgaria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, China, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The drivers said that they had a wonderful time in all the countries they had so far travelled through. They said that they were never inconvenienced in their passage through Europe and Asia. Team leader Richard said that people were the same across all countries, and that it was only their cultures that were different. “It is a friendship rally, meant to promote peace in the world,” said Jenny, one of the rally car-team members.
