School student drowns in LDA’s swimming pool

LAHORE: A class eight student drowned in the Lahore Development Authority’s swimming pool in Samnabad on Sunday. His body was handed over to the family without autopsy.

Youth found strangled: A strangulated body of a youth was found in a drain in the Sherankot police precincts. Police said that the man had been tortured and identified him as Abdul Sattar, 22. Police have started investigations.

Shot dead: A man was allegedly shot dead by his friend on Sunday over a minor dispute in Chungh police precincts. Police said Akbar Ali, 23, was a resident of Shah Pur village and employed in a local factory. He had a fight with his friend Mashooq Ali a few days ago but the matter was resolved later. However Mashooq bore a grudge against Akbar and opened fire on his friend after an exchange of harsh words. Akbar was injured in the head and was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was removed to the city mortuary for autopsy. Police have arrested the killer and registered a case against him.

Woman commits suicide: A woman committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills after a scuffle with her husband in the Shadhra Town police precincts. Razia Bibi, 25, a resident of Shadhra Town had a brawl with her husband over a domestic dispute after which she took poison. She was rushed to Mayo Hospital where she died. The body was handed over to the family without autopsy.

Robberies: Three robbers broke into a house in DHA’s D Block and took away Rs 200,000, prize bonds worth Rs 200,000 and jewellery. Police have registered a case on house owner Tabseer’s complaint.
