Photographic exhibition opens at NCA

LAHORE: An exhibition of photographs opened at the National College of Arts Zahoorul Ikhlaq Gallery on Saturday.
Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Chairman Lieutenant General (r) Safdar Butt opened the exhibition being held under the NCA’s Photography Workshop 2004.
Over 50 photographs were on display and were divided into three categories – digital photography, basic photography and fashion photography. The subjects of the photographs ranged from portraits, buildings, musical instruments and faces to kids. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Butt said he had done photography in his school days with a box camera. He praised the photographs, saying the students had done a wonderful job.
Later, Mr Butt gave prizes to the winners. In digital photography, Omar Nasrullah stood first, Asher Taufique second and Murtaza got the third position. In fashion, Faran Ahmed took the first prize, Saleem Tahir the second and Mahrukh the third. Ali Asim Wasti won the first prize in basic photography, followed by Wajeeha Kanwal who stood second and Samar who took the third prize.
Talking to Daily Times, the first prizewinner in fashion photography, Faran Ahmed, said the government should set up a photography institute. Omar Nasrullah said that photographic exhibitions should be held regularly. The exhibition will run till September 15 from 10am to 5pm.
