Sack some generals, save the country: Nawaz

Staff Report

LAHORE: A few generals need to be sacked, otherwise they will destroy Pakistan, former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said.

Mr Sharif called the reported military operation in Balochistan after the Wana operation a conspiracy to dismantle the country, according to PML-N Punjab Information Secretary Zaeem Qadri.

The former prime minister said that a military operation against countrymen might cause rebellion. He said that the government launched the Wana military operation on the pretext of the war on terror. Hundreds of soldiers and innocent people had been killed in that operation, he said, adding that it had forced patriotic Pakistanis to pick up guns against their own army.

The PML-N chief said that the generals were punishing the people of Balochistan for demanding their rights. He said that the country might face an irreparable loss if military operations in Wana and Balochistan were not stopped. He condemned proposed amendments to the defamation laws, saying they were anti-human.
