Asma appointed UN’s special rapporteur
LAHORE: The United Nations (UN) has appointed noted human rights activist Asma Jehangir special rapporteur on freedom of religious or belief of the Commission on Human Rights. Ms Jahangir has been made the special rapporteur after she completed her tenure as special rapporteur on extra judicial executions, which ended on July 23. An appointment letter issued from the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said that she would continue working for the promotion and protection of human rights. staff report
