WAPDA generated 20,927 units of thermal power in 2003-04
LAHORE: The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has generated 20,927 million electricity units (mega kilowatts per hour) through its thermal power stations in 2003-04. According to a press release, the plant availability factor in fiscal 2003-04 was 79.74 percent, up from the previous record of 75.46 percent in 2001-02. The utilisation figure was 59.39 percent, up from 55.71 percent in 2001-02. WAPDA also recorded maximum daily power sharing of 3,400 MW, against 3,172 MW in 1999-2000; maximum daily energy generation of 75 Mkwh, against 71 Mkwh in 1999-2000; maximum monthly energy production of 2,193 Mkwh, against 1,981 Mkwh in 1999-2000; and record energy generation of 20,927 Mkwh this year, against 19,498 Mkwh in 2002-03. WAPDA also revived its old thermal power stations at Shahdra and Quetta, which were closed in 1999 and 2000 due to the non-availability of gas. staff report
