Shalimar Town told to pay official’s salary

LAHORE: Justice Syed Zahid Hussain of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Shalimar Town administration to release the salary of a petitioner and upheld his promotion to superintendent.

Petitioner Zulfiqar Ahmed said that he was appointed superintendent (BS-16), but the town administration refused to pay him the salary and other benefits as per the grade, claiming that his appointment was illegal. He said that the administration was about to demote him to BS-15. The court said that the petitioner was promoted according to the rules and regulations. It said that the town administration had failed to produce evidence against the petitioner’s allegedly illegal appointment. It said that the promotion committee had been recommending his promotion for quite some time. staff report
