DHA starts Senior Citizens’ Foundation
LAHORE: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Sunday started its Senior Citizens’ Foundation of Pakistan (Lahore Cantt chapter).
Lahore Corps Commander Lt Gen Zarrar Azim told reporters after addressing the foundation’s inaugural ceremony that Pakistan’s privileged senior citizens should also help deserving and deprived citizens of lower and middle classes. “Unfortunately, Pakistan has no policy on senior citizens.” He admitted that Pakistan’s economic position was a major problem in giving rights to senior citizens. “After all, Pakistan is a poor country,” he added.
He stressed for a constant interaction between the old and young for a healthy society. He also announced to facilitate the DHA’s senior cities and sanctioned serrate counters for them. —Staff Report
