India, Japan discuss Pak-North Korea N-cooperation
NEW DELHI: Defence ministers of Japan and India held talks on Sunday on regional security and alleged exchanges of nuclear and missile technology between Pakistan and North Korea, a news agency reported.
Shigeru Ishiba, the first Japanese defence chief to visit India, also discussed bilateral defence cooperation with Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes, Press Trust of India reported, quoting Japanese Embassy officials in New Delhi.
Fernandes also briefed Ishiba on Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s peace initiative with Pakistan aimed at ending more than half a century of conflict between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours.
The Japanese leader welcomed the peace moves, saying the normalization of ties between India and Pakistan would improve regional security, PTI said. —AP
