Lightning kills two soldiers in Kashmir
MUZAFFARABAD: Two Pakistani soldiers were killed and four others wounded when lightning struck an army bunker in a border village of Azad Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.
The casualties occurred in Leepa valley, some 100 kilometers southeast of Muzaffarabad, before dawn on Saturday, an official told reporters here. “Lightning struck an army bunker along the Line of Control (LoC) and as a result two soldiers were killed while four others suffered burn wounds,” the official said. Heavy rains have inundated Azad Kashmir over the past several days, causing landslides on the mountainous roads and suspending inter-district traffic. Officials and residents said rains had also disrupted telecommunication links and power supplies in the Leepa valley and other areas of Kashmir. —AFP
