Stray kite kills young man
Staff Report
LAHORE: Kite-flying claimed the life a young newspaper hawker in city on Sunday when the string of a stray kite slit open his throat.
Hafiz Saeed, 24, a resident of Bibi Pak Daman, was returning home after selling newspapers when a stray kite fell on him, near Lakshmi Chowk, with its string cutting his jugular vein. He died on the spot.
People saw the young man lying on the road soaked in blood but nobody bothered to come to his help.
A local, however, was kind enough to report the incident to the area police and the ‘vigilant’ cops reached the spot after one-and-a-half hour only to find the young man dead due to excessive bleeding.
The deceased was unmarried and the only earning hand of his family.
