FO to brief MPs on Kashmir policy tomorrow
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: The Foreign Office will brief a group of parliamentarians shortly leaving for India on the Pakistan’s Kashmir policy on May 6.
Talking to Daily Times, Senator Aneesa Zeb, one of the 12 delegation members, said the foreign minister would brief them at the Foreign Office.
According to news reports, the Indian external affairs ministry has cleared the visas of the Pakistani parliamentarians to attend a programme organised by the Pakistan-India Forum for Peace and Democracy, India Chapter.
Ms Zeb said they were going to India to promote people-to-people contacts to break the ice in Pak-India relations. She said the MPs’ delegation would leave the Wagah border for New Delhi by train on May 8 and their 7-day visit would take them to New Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Calcutta and some other Indian cities. “Hopefully, our visit will help reduce tension and build confidence between the two South Asian nuclear powers,” she added.
