Govt to compile state land directory
LAHORE: In order to remove squatters from state land, the Punjab government has decided to compile a state land directory to be completed within two months, said Punjab Minister for Colonies Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha here on Sunday.
Addressing a meeting, he directed executive district officers of the revenue departments to start compiling the record of state land at tehsil and district tehsil level. He said after the preparation the directory, a computerized data would be compiled soon. He said the land vacated by illegal occupants in villages, towns and cities would be utilized for public welfare schemes and distributed among the landless farmers. Mr Rahjha said new housing schemes would be prepared in big cities. He also set up various committees to monitor the work on collection of data and preparation of the directory. —Staff Report
