Government strengthening extremism, claims ANP
staff report
PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party on Friday claimed that the federal government was ‘strengthening forces of extremism’ because party activists were prevented from observing the death anniversary of Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan in the tribal areas.
ANP criticised what they called the government’s ‘obstruction to moderate, liberal and democratic forces’ working for peace and development in the tribal areas. They criticised the government for stopping ANP delegates from entering the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to visit the tomb of Baacha Khan in Jalalabad on January 28 and the arrest of ANP’s Bajaur Agency president and his colleagues on the charges of assembling to commemorate the death anniversary of Baacha Khan at Bajaur Agency.
