NGOs’ role in student councils commended
LAHORE: The secretary in charge of the Punjab education department, Shahid Rasheed, gave an overview of the work done by Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) to start school councils and raise awareness about their benefits, during a meeting on Thursday.
“The Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme is focusing on capacity building of teachers and educational administrators, construction of school buildings, school libraries and laboratories and increasing stipends for girls,” he said.
The meeting was attended by office-bearers of NGOs Aurat Foundation, Ali Institute of Education, All Pakistan Women’s Association, Anjman Ikhwan-e-Islam, Ghazali Education Trust, Pakistan Girls Guide Association Punjab, SHE (Self Help Enterprises), SOS Village of Pakistan, South Asia Partnership Pakistan, Women Welfare Society and Pakistan Rural Education.
