SAARC leaders call on prime minister
ISLAMABAD: Leaders from Bangladesh, Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal met with Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali on the sidelines of the SAARC summit on Sunday.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khalida Zia and Mr Jamali discussed regional and international issues during the meeting. The two leaders reviewed various proposals for the promotion of trade between the two countries. Both sides agreed that political disputes should be resolved through peaceful means to achieve long-lasting peace in the region. Maldives President Mamoon Abdul Gayoom and Mr Jamali discussed matters of mutual interest and SAARC issues.
Nepalese Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and Mr Jamali discussed the prospects of increasing trade ties and improving diplomatic relations.Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigme Yaeser Thinley discussed bilateral relations and regional situation with the Pakistani leader. The leaders also congratulated Mr Jamali on excellent arrangements for the SAARC summit. —APP
