Musharraf and Vajpayee up in peace balloon?
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmud Kasuri has proposed that Vishwa Bandhu Gupta, an Indian balloonist should invite both Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and President General Pervez Musharraf to take a hot balloon flight together, said a press release issued by the Indian Balloonist Club. The balloon may be called “Peace Balloon”, symbolising Indo-Pak friendship and peace, said the release. Earlier, President Musharraf had agreed to the idea of a flight from Lahore to Amritsar with Mr Gupta. Recently, Mr Vajpayee had endorsed the idea of a South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation balloon of Indo-Pak friendship at Islamabad. However, logistics and permission could not be obtained to make the flight possible. Meanwhile, Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Sunday hoped that a composite dialogue between Pakistan and India would be held soon. Talking to Indus TV, he said the world was looking towards Pakistan and India for holding sustainable dialogue and achieving lasting peace. The dialogue was the need of the hour, he added. —APP
