Tharparkar by-election set for October 7

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s chief election commissioner on Friday announced that the by-election for the National Assembly constituency NA-229 Tharparkar I will be held on October 7, 2004.

Nomination papers will be filed from September 6 to 8. Scrutiny of the papers will be conducted on September 9. September 13 is the last date to file appeals on the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers.

The Appellate Tribunal will dispose of these appeals by September 16. September 20 is the last date for the withdrawal of candidature.

The final list of validly nominated candidates will be published on September 21 and polling will be held on October 7.

According to a notification from the commission, the district and sessions court judge in Tharparkar and Senior Civil Judge Altafur Rehman Bugio will act as the district returning officer and returning officers, respectively. staff report
