3,000 Sikh pilgrims expected

SHEIKHUPURA: More than 3,000 Sikhs are expected to arrive at Nankana Sahib to celebrate the 534th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Baba Guru Nanak, between November 7 and 9, sources said.
According to reports, some of the pilgrims are coming from outside Pakistan and some are already at Nankana Sahib, 56 km from Sheikhupura. Strict security measures will be taken to safeguard the pilgrims. Special undercover officials will be deployed along the major routes to the city and at other places within the city. Temporary police pickets have also been set up near the entrance of the Gurdwara Janam Asthan, sources said.
The sources also said that special stalls have been set up to entertain the pilgrims at the railway station and other places.
Officials of the Evacuee Properties Trust Board the Parbhandak Committee of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara, local elected representatives and district administration officials will welcome the pilgrims at Gurdwara Janam Asthan.
