Pakistan and China vow broad-based relationship
ISLAMABAD: Mohammadmian Soomro, chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, met with Wang Zhongyu, executive vice chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of China (PPCC) in Beijing on Monday.
During their meeting, Soomro underlined the importance of maintaining friendly relations to ensure bilateral cooperation. He said that this visit, after Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao’s April visit to Pakistan, holds great historical significance. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to an enduring strategic relationship and reiterated their desire to strengthen lasting good relations between the two countries in all fields, especially trade and commerce. The leaders also stressed the need for more parliamentary exchanges between the two countries. Later, chairman Zhongyu hosted a dinner in honour of Senator Soomro and Pakistani Senators, Mrs. Kalsoom Parveen and Mr. Farooq Hamid Naek. online
