Electoral process will be peaceful: SSP
LAHORE: The police has finalised its strategy to thwart violence during the local council elections in six union councils (UC) and several polling stations in four union councils where polling was postponed on August 25, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aamir Zulfiqar on Tuesday.
The elections will be conducted on September 1 in UCs 12, 13, 53, 56, 124 and 144 and several polling stations in UCs 9, 10, 11 and 55. The SSP said that 3,000 policemen, under the supervision of six superintendents of police (SPs), would be deployed at polling stations. Thirty Elite Police Force vehicles and 40 mobile squad vehicles would patrol polling stations to maintain law and order, he said, adding that action would be taken against people who violated the law. staff report
