Less than 30% pass from 91 colleges

* 10 colleges have zero percent result

LAHORE: Students from 10 colleges failed to clear Punjab University’s 2005 BA/BSc annual examination, 30 percent students passed both BA and BSc in 32 colleges and only 30 percent students passed either BA or BSc in 59 colleges out of 227 registered colleges, showed the result issued by the university on Tuesday.

Colleges showing zero percent result included one from the Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Education Minister Mian Imran Masood’s home district (Gujrat). Overall, less than 30 percent students from 91 colleges passed.

PU registered colleges in Lahore also showed a poor performance with a result of less than 30 percent. A reason for this could be that most good colleges, including Government College University and Kinnaird College for Women, are now independent degree awarding institutions.

Zero percent result: The colleges showing zero percent result were Government Degree College Daska (BSC), Government College for Women Daska (BSC), Government Zamindar Science College GT Road Gujrat (BSC), Federal Government College Kharian Cantt (BSC), Government College Ravi Road Shahdra Lahore (BSC), Government Mansoora Model Degree college Wahdat Road Lahore (BA), Sir Syed Academy (Special Education) Muhammad Hussain Road Rawalpindi (BA), Government Islamia College Sangla Hill (BSC), Government College for Women Shorkot City (BSC), and Sarghona College for Women Wah Cantt (BSC).

Less than 30 percent result in BA and BSc: The 32 degree-colleges which showed less than 30 percent result in both groups (BA/BSc) were Government Degree college Attock, Government Taleemul Islam College Chenab Nagar, Government Degree College for Women Chakwal, Government Islamia College Faisalabad, Government Fareed Baksh Ghousia Degree Science College 333 Faridabad, Government College Gojra, Government Degree College Gujranwala, Government Zamindar Science College GT Road Gujrat, Federal Government college for Men No 2 Sector H-9 Islamabad, Federal Government College for Men F-10/4 Islamabad, Government College Jhang, Government Degree College Jhelum, Government Waris Shah College Janiala Sher Khan, Government PST College Kamalia, Government Islamia College Kasur, Government Diyal Singh College Lahore
