Man throws acid on sister’s husband in court
KARACHI: Police arrested a man for throwing acid in a court here on Monday that left his brother-in-law and four other people with burns, an official said.
Mohammed Ibrahim, 22, was apparently targeting his sister in the attack but she escaped unhurt, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Akram Abro.
Ibrahim’s sister, Khadija, 25, and her husband, Mohammed Ismail, 32, were in the court after Ibrahim and his parents had filed a complaint that Ismail had abducted Khadija. Khadija denied being abducted, saying she had married Ismail of her own free will, Abro said. Magistrate Nasir Noor dismissed the case and allowed the couple to live together. Ibrahim attacked the couple after the ruling, slightly injuring the five people. Police arrested him as he tried to flee. Ibrahim told police he wanted to attack his sister for disgracing the family’s honour, Abro said. He was charged with attempted murder. ap
