Car dealers told to remove encroachments
Staff Report
LAHORE: In a notification on Monday, Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool directed town nazims to take action against the car dealers encroaching on Jail Road, Samanabad and Gulshan Ravi footpaths, causing traffic hurdles and problems for pedestrians.
Mr Rasool directed the local authorities to issue final notices to the car dealers for removing cars from the encroached areas. If they fail to do so, the footpaths will be cleared by force.
The Punjab government has received a number of complaints against the car dealers. People complain about the lack of footpaths in the city. Those that do exist have been encroached upon by vendors. In big cities such as Lahore, city government officials have been illegally renting out space on footpaths. The city government was also directed to launch an operation against encroachments on Hall Road.
