Korea thanks Musharraf for advice on Iraq

SEOUL: South Korea on Thursday thanked President General Pervez Musharraf for advising the country not to send Korean troops to Iraq. The gratitude was conveyed by Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon, to Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the honorary dean of South Korea to Islamabad. He said that the international community had asked South Korea to send its troops to Iraq but “President Musharraf advised the South Korean government not to do so”. Shujaat told the Korean foreign minister about Pakistan’s role in the war against terrorism and said that the root causes of terrorism must be addressed to eradicate the menace. The meeting also discussed regional and global political situation. staff report
