Sahi takes oath as acting Punjab governor

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal Sahi took oath as acting Punjab governor in a simple but impressive ceremony at Governor’s House on Friday.

Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Iftikhar Hussain Chaudhry administered the oath. Punjab Chief Minister Ch Parvaiz Elahi, Lahore District Nazim Mian Aamir Mahmood, provincial ministers, parliamentarians, LHC judges and senior civil and military officials attended the ceremony among others. Punjab Chief Secretary Hafeez Akhtar Randhawa read the Presidential Commission of Appointment. Punjab Governor Lt General (r) Khalid Maqbool has left for the United States on a two-week private visit.
