Woman raped, her daughter stripped by gang

MULTAN: Five men gang-raped a woman and stripped her 16-year-old daughter in Chak No 138/WB, Tibba Sultanpur, late on Tuesday night.

Vehari District Police Officer Mukhtar Tikka told reporters on Wednesday that Abid Hussain, Ashfaq alias Shakki, Mudassar Abbas, Zafar Abbas and Khawar Shah entered the house of Manzoor Shah alias Tufail Shah and locked him and his sons in one room. The intruders gang-raped his wife, Nazir, and stripped his daughter, Fatima, he added. Neighbours gathered after hearing screams and the men escaped while shooting in the air, he said. “We are raiding locations to arrest the culprits. No arrests have been made yet. The perpetrators of the crime will be punished, he added.

SHO Rustam Ali, who is investigating the case, told reporters that two of the culprits Abid Hussain and Ashfaq alias Shakki had been given bail by a court two days ago. More than 500 people demonstrated against increasing lawlessness and demanded arrest of the culprits. They said the men had raped Nazir because she has appeared in court as a witness, but neither the police nor the administration had provided any security to the family.
