JUI-F to take part in non-party local elections
Staff Report
KARACHI: Despite reservation against the decision of the government on Tuesday to hold the next local bodies polls on non-party basis, the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI-F) has decided to participate in them.
Talking to Daily Times, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, member of the party’s central shoora, said a decision in this regard had already been taken during a meeting of the shoora of the party as the Local Bodies Bill had been legally approved by and overwhelming majority of the members of the National Assembly. “Our members in the National assembly did not vote during the approval of the Local Bodies Bill due to the party’s specific reservations. However, we stand committed to taking part in the process and make our presence felt,” he said.
