‘Nationalists have done nothing for Pakhtuns’
Staff Report
PESHAWAR: Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, provincial general secretary of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), said on Wednesday that the Pakhtun nationalists had done nothing for the rights and welfare of Pakhtuns.
He said the Pakhtuns were now aware of this and could not be tricked any more. Addressing a meeting at the party’s secretariat, Mr Sherpao said the PPP was the real representative of the Pakhtuns and had struggled for their rights.
Referring to the Awami National Party, he said the champions of Pakhtun rights had failed to review their anti-Pakhtun policies despite repeated defeats and blunders, which had isolated them from the people. Mr Sherpao also criticised the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) for not meeting its electoral promises. He said that his party would triumph in the forthcoming local body polls. The meeting reviewed party matters and preparations for the forthcoming local body elections.
