MMA warns against celebrating New Year’s Eve

PESHAWAR: The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) on Wednesday warned people against celebrating New Year and said a special force would keep a check on revellers to implement the alliance’s decision in case the police do not take any action. “New Year’s Eve celebrations will not be allowed,” Haji Ehsanul Haq, provincial general-secretary of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, told a news conference. The MMA government had banned New Year’s Eve celebrations, music in public transport and billboards with the images of women after coming into power. staff report
