MoU to link 20 universities with industries okayed

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool has approved 20 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between eight public universities and various industries.
The MoUs will be signed in the presence of President General Pervez Musharraf during the Punjab Student Convention 2004 on December 31. The MoUs were approved between the universities and industries at a meeting held at the Governor’s House on Wednesday evening. The concerned universities’ vice-chancellors, other representatives and the executives from the industry attended the meeting.
Punjab University, Government College University Lahore, Lahore College for Women, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Government College University Faisalabad, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Bahauddin Zikrya University Multan, and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore singed the MoUs.
The MoUs are also being signed with the pharmaceutical industry, trade industry, and information technology and communication industry. The governor stressed the universities to take initiatives and develop departmental links with the concerned industries.
