Khushbakht-Mehdi panel win Arts Council elections

KARACHI: The Khushbakht Shujaat and Yawar Mehdi panel won the elections of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, for the year 2004. Polling took place on Sunday.

Executive District Officer Mir Husain Ali announced the results at the Arts Council on Monday morning. According to the official results, Khushbakht Shujaat secured 683 votes, Yawar Mehdi 742 votes and Azfar Rizvi 595 votes for the posts of vice president, secretary and treasurer, respectively. They were declared elected.

The following have been elected members of the governing body.

Dr Rehana Shah (741 votes), Ibrahim Nafees (720 votes), Naqqash Kazmi (700 votes), Salma Baig (698 votes), Talat Husain (692 votes), Sultana Siddiqui (675 votes), Qasim Jalali (653 votes), Saifur Rahman Grami (626 votes), Kamal Ahmed Rizvi (618 votes), Aniq Ahmed (595 votes), Seema Tahir Khan (593 votes) and Owais Adeeb Ansari (587 votes). —Staff Report
