Mukhtar Mai gets HRSP award
LAHORE: The Human Rights Society of Pakistan (HRSP) on Monday awarded Mukhtar Mai a medal for services to human rights in the country. Kashf Foundation Director Roshaney Zafar, introducing Ms Mai, described her as a brave lady who had fought determinedly to get justice. Ms Mai was gang-raped on the basis of a Panchayet verdict on June 30. Alexander John Malik, the Bishop of Lahore, Salma Maqbool, a blind lady, and the late Shahid Pathan were also awarded medals. —Staff Report
