Nine Taliban suspects freed, 19 still held

By Azizullah Khan

QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies on Tuesday released 9 suspected Taliban soldiers and continued investigations against 19.

Sources said the nine suspects were released after the authorities were unable to prove their involvement with the Taliban. Sources said two suspects were arrested on the border and the other 26 were arrested from a house near a religious institution. The Frontier Corps have installed searchlights and hidden cameras to monitor the border. Sources said four Afghan soldiers were arrested at the border for entering Pakistan illegally.

During interrogation, some suspects confessed to their involvement in an attack on a check post in Spin Boldak.
