6 robbers caught with booty

LAHORE: Cantt Police on Tuesday arrested six robbers from the notorious Mumtaz Kashmiri gang and seized Rs 600,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 100,000.

Police said the outlaws had confessed to 11 robberies in Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad.

According to a handout, some robbers barged into the house of Riaz Ahmed in Khawar Town, Lahore Cantt last month and took Rs 600,000 in cash and jewellery. The senior superintendent of police (investigation) formed a team of policemen led by the Cantt Circle assistant superintendent of police which arrested the outlaws and seized the stolen items. All the arrested outlaws - ringleader Rana Mumtaz, Shahzad Baig, Rana Mushtaq, Rashid and Altaf – come from Muzaffarabad, AJK.
