Chattha’s two sons arrested for attacking police officer
LAHORE: Suleman Chattha and Amir Chattha, the sons of Hamid Nasir Chattha, head of PML-Chattha, were arrested for allegedly attacking a police sub inspector after a brawl with a shopkeeper in Super Town on Defence Main Boulevard on Sunday. The two brothers and their friend Usman Rana, all of whom were allegedly drunk, came to a paan shop in a car and after an altercation started beating the shopkeeper. Sub Inspector Faisal Aziz, who walked past the scene, tried to stop them from hitting Nadeem, the shopkeeper, but the three men beat him as well. Soon a police team led by ASI Tanveer arrived and took the three men to the Defence police station. The police registered a complaint against them and took them to the Services Hospital for medical tests to determine if they were drunk. Duty officer ASI Muhammad Ali said a complaint was registered against them but they were released after negative preliminary tests. He said that samples of their blood and urine were sent to a laboratory for further tests and no case had been registered. Hospital Chief Medical Officer Muhammad Iqbal and clerk Muhammad Zahid told Daily Times the medical tests showed that Amir, Suleman and Usman were all drunk. ASI Aziz said that Amir and Suleman had filed a complaint against police officials that they took away Rs 25,000 and snatched a cellphone from them. —Staff Report
